The Chrony reads speeds in feet per second (fps) or in meters per second (mps) and operates in a speed range from 30 fps to 7000 fps (10 mps to 2134 mps).
Operating temperature range: 32 ° Fahrenheit to 110 ° Fahrenheit (0 ° Celsius to 43 ° Celsius), non-condensing (the ambient temperature must be higher than the dew point temperature and must not drop below the dew point temperature during use of the Chrony).
Storage temperature range: from 14 ° Fahrenheit to 120 ° Fahrenheit (-10 ° Celsius to 50 ° Celsius) non-condensing (the ambient temperature must be higher than the dew point temperature and must not drop below the dew point temperature in the place of storage of the Chrony, unless the Chrony is sealed in a waterproof container).
Accuracy: 99.5% or more.
The displayed speed does not differ from the real speed of more than 1 in 200 units, that is, ± 10 fps with a speed reading of 2000 fps.
Normal operation is usually better and shot-to-shot repeatability is generally more accurate, i.e. the reported average instrumental speed may differ from the actual average instrumental speed by up to 0.5%, but the standard deviation calculated from data collected with a Chrony is always 0.5% closer to the actual standard deviation for a given string.
This fact is important because an accurate measurement of the uniformity of a charge is much more significant than the exact measurement of its average speed
