For years we have been thinking about making a folding knife that closely emulates our famous Tanto.
Andrew Demko worked on the problem and, with the help of Lynn Thompson, a satisfactory solution was found. The result is what we offer here, the Oyabun!
It has a reinforced blade tip, a highly satin polish, expert heat treatment (Rc57 and sub-zero hardened) and the kind of extraordinarily sharp edge on which Cold Steel's reputation was built. In addition, it features a built-in pinball machine for effortless opening and a crossbow lock and safety (patent pending).
The Oyabun lock / security was first used in the Crawford 1 pocketbook and proved to be quite robust and reliable.
The 4034 stainless steel blade is housed in a sturdy and economical handle that is reinforced with stainless steel liners. The handle is injection molded with a Griv-Ex ™ base and then over-molded with soft checkered Kray-Ex ™ secured to the frame with two sturdy bolts.
