RAO II is the reinterpretation of the famous Extrema Ratio RAO model; it has the same characteristics as its predecessor, with a renewed drop-tip blade and improved ergonomic handle with rounded upper sides of the handle.

In June 2006 the 185th Rgt. Recognition and Acquisition of Objectives "FOLGORE" (185 ° RAO) has entrusted Extrema Ratio with the development of a special knife based on specific specifications relating to particular operating activities. The result is the RAO, not a large folding knife but a compact survival and work knife with a heavy and robust blade. The opening locking mechanism is particularly resistant as it is supported by a safety system that transforms it into a real fixed blade. The opening and closing can be operated with two hands, acting on the lateral ends of the blade locking pin, so as to minimize the risk of self-injury during the operation. The blade, because of its weight, is in fact a real guillotine. To ensure 100% tightness of the locking mechanism, due to the heavy use and the violence of the blows determined by the mass of the instrument, a threaded steel pin has been applied which finds its seat in the two holes on the guard of the massive cheeks in anticorodal aluminum. By screwing the pin in this seat, it stands between the blade and the user's fingers, also providing an important psychological effect. The sheath is an essential component of the system because, in addition to housing a diamond sharpener, it allows you to carry the knife open, held by a lace with a double clip, or closed in the appropriate front pocket. The system for attaching the sheath to the user with the MOLLE system allows it to be worn on tactical vests and generic belts.
