Its use as a working tool dates back to 6000 BC, while the first documented military use dates back to between 700 and 600 BC during the Etruscan era, as certified by the Auvele Felùske stele in Vetulonia. Throughout the world, from Europe to Ancient Egypt to the Far East, the battle axe has stood out for its immediate effectiveness in combat, requiring less complex training than other tools, but ensuring decisive performance in close situations.

Extrema Ratio, official supplier of Comsubin, reinterprets this millenary tradition with Estrema , a tactical axe developed for the GOI (Gruppo Operativo Incursori della Marina). With a cutting-edge design, Estrema combines the robustness and speed of the historical weapon with technological innovation, offering a versatile and reliable tool for the most demanding missions. Suitable both as a tactical combat tool and as a breacher tool, Estrema is designed to face any challenge. The name “Estrema” expresses the nature of this model: our most extreme product, the result of our most daring production experience.

Estrema is made of Böhler N690 steel with a hardness of 54 HRC and a dark stone finish. The G10 handle offers two modes of use: by grasping the end of the handle you get the traditional grip, while a narrower grip favors close-up use. The tang, in its final section, can be used as a burglary tool and for cutting and opening metal sheets. Furthermore, the tapering allows the axe to be used as a lever or crowbar.

Estrema is supplied in an innovatively designed hermetic technical case, which also contains a Kydex sheath and a belt clip.

The ambidextrous Kydex sheath is designed to offer multiple modes of carry and interface options with the operator's equipment. It can be attached to a belt using the belt clip included in the case, or attached to any MOLLE-equipped platform using a paracord lanyard. Axe retention is provided by the shape and natural elasticity of the Kydex, supported by a snap-fastened lanyard.
