The Snap-It Salt traces its history back to the original Snap-It design, which was a unique modification from Spyderco's revolutionary CLIPIT® knives. Instead of a pocket clip, it featured a carabiner attached to the pin end of the handle which allowed the user to hook the closed knife to a D-ring, carabiner or similar platform to hang it in a location where it was easily accessible . This unique innovation earned a US utility patent and Blade magazine's prestigious "Overall Knife of the Year" award in 1993.
