BSA Guns is an English company founded in 1861 which, thanks to the know-how acquired in over a century and a half of history, manufactures high quality compressed and pre-compressed air rifles, at advantageous prices.
The brand has now become synonymous with quality and has been able to combine the experience of English master gunsmiths with modern design and production technologies, to always keep up with the market. BSA's solid reputation also derives from the impeccable after-sales service, always careful to provide the best assistance to its customers.
The rifle designs are characterized by classic and simple lines, of undoubted elegance, while the assembly and performance pursue high quality standards, in search of excellence.
The Buccaneer SE is the latest addition to the CFP family of the Birmingham house. Being a pre-compressed air rifle, the propellant reserve is contained in the cylinder under the barrel, equipped with an analogue pressure gauge on the front, to always have residual autonomy under control. The possibility of rapid reloading is very practical, without removing the propellant tank from the weapon, simply by connecting the supplied fitting.
Loading takes place through a manual shutter, which picks up the shot from a ten-shot rotating magazine. Thanks to clear numerical indexes, the shooter always knows how many dots are left.
The barrel, made by cold hammering, ends with a screwed muzzle brake, designed not so much to dampen the recoil, but to allow an optimal transition of the pellet in the delicate moment in which it leaves the muzzle, when the presence of turbulences could decrease its precision.
BSA has long experience in the production of barrels and boasts an important record: it is the only large-scale manufacturer to use cold hammered barrels on its compressed and pre-compressed air rifles. BSA rods are not produced from pipes, but from special steel bars, drilled and cold-forged. A single rod requires more than 35,000 hammers and when finished it is 15% longer than the starting bar. After the forging process, the steel becomes even more resistant to wear, aged in the grain and finished in a mirror. Through this procedure it is possible to create extremely precise grooves, as well as a slight and gradual choking, which positively reflects on the final precision.
The minimal loading effort, the high autonomy of the cylinder and the reserve of pellets in the magazine, mean that the Buccaneer SE is not relegated to the thoughtful shot, but can also develop high cadences, typical of recreational use.
Being a shotgun devoted to precision, there are no metal sights, but only the slide for optics: BSA produces various types, to satisfy every shooter.
The stock is in natural beech, comfortable and carefully finished; ends with a ventilated pad that offers the right hold on the shoulder and maximum comfort. The football shovel integrates a large cheek piece that allows the ideal alignment between the eye and the telescope, without forcing the neck into unnatural positions. Two knurled areas on the handle and on the rod allow an optimal grip in every shooting position.
The action is fixed by two screws, placed at the bottom, and is completed by an adjustable two-stroke release, which puts the shooter in a position to express all the intrinsic precision of the weapon. Inside the trigger guard there is also a safe, easily maneuverable with the index finger.
BSA Buccaneer SE is available in a 5.5 mm caliber in a free sale version (<7.5 Joule).
